Aspen has long been known as a world famous ski resort with incredible shopping, dining and nightlife. But beyond the glitz and glam, Aspen has an authenticity and depth that is unrivaled by any place in the world. It’s the blend of small town living with big mountain recreation and world class culture that makes 81611 the most coveted zip code in the world.
Original Aspen settlers journeyed here by the thousands in search of riches by way of the numerous silver mines that still perforate our mountains today. Years after the Gold Standard was established and Aspen was scaled back to ghost town status, Walter Paepcke and Friedl Pfiefer worked to restore life, and build community, setting by establishing the Aspen Skiing Company and the Aspen Institute.
For today’s locals, Aspen offers much more than world-class skiing, there is an endless supply of outdoor activities and amazing cultural events that range from the Music Festival to Aspen Institute and the Food and Wine Classic. While it’s easy to imagine that everyone here lives with their head in the clouds, there is a strong sense of community that bonds everyone that calls Aspen home.
